The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is one of the largest and most important museums of Greece. The majority of the artifacts found in Knossos are hosted today in this museum. It is a unique and magnificent collection of more than 15.000 exhibits that covers a period of 5.000 years from the Neolithic era to the Greco - Roman period.
It is among the most visited museums of Crete and it is easily accessed with the public means of transport since it is located in the city center and is open all year long.
